Jacob Meloche is an Articling Student at Gorham Vandebeek Trial and Appeal Lawyers. He recently completed his J.D. at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Jacob holds an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music from York University, where he performed alongside renowned faculty and students as a member of the Oscar Peterson Scholarship Ensemble.

Jacob’s performance background inspired his current focus in oral advocacy. He recently participated in the Julius Alexander Isaac Moot, which concentrated on racial profiling and police mistreatment. His team was awarded Best School, and he was nominated as one of the moot’s Top Advocates.

While at the University of Toronto, he volunteered with the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights, where he worked to assess the legality of new bail provisions. In his third year, he completed an externship with Innocence Canada, preparing ministerial review applications to exonerate the wrongfully convicted.

Jacob is dedicated to protecting people’s rights, remedying injustice, and preventing wrongful convictions.
